Marjorie Minkin to Exhibit Opacity/Translucency

Atrium gallery at the Moakley Federal Courthouse

By: - Jan 04, 2023

I will be having a solo exhibition,  "Opacity/Translucency," of my Lexan reliefs in the Atrium gallery at the Moakley Federal Courthouse in Boston from January 5th through March 30th, 2023.

My Lexans have been shown in galleries and museums in MA, NYC, LA, Michigan, Canada, France, Belgium, Germany and Seoul. This is the first time a solo installation will be shown in Boston.

The Moakley Federal Courthouse is an extraordinary architectural building that is part of the Fan Pier development designed with galleries to exhibit art. The Atrium gallery has a 60 foot curved brick wall that faces a curved wall of windows that look out on the harbor.

My art has been influenced by my fascination with reflections on water beginning from a young age with summers by the Atlantic Ocean. My Lexan reliefs will be exhibited facing the water that inspired them.

My solo exhibition will be concurrent with Erica Adams' exhibition of watercolors "Spirit in the Dark" in the lobby galleries. Erica and I met as students in the early 1970s at the School of the Boston Museum of Art, now known as the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University.

The exhibition will be from January 5, to March 30, 2023. it is open weekdays from 9-5pm. There will be two receptions weather permitting, Jan. 12 and March 23, 3-5pm.

The Moakley Federal Courthouse is located at One Courthouse Way, Boston.
