The Colonial Theatre announces its 2010–2011 season. Tickets are on sale now to Members (memberships begin at $50) and to the general public on April 7. Season five begins on June 3, 2010 with Sherri James Buxton & Friends: Songs from the Heart, and concludes on May 21, 2010 with acclaimed singer-songwriter Tom Paxton. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Colonial Ticket Office at 111 South Street Monday-Friday 10am-5pm, by calling (413) 997-4444 or online beginning April 7 at Colonial link.
 
Many months of preparation have gone into organizing this diverse and exciting season at the Colonial. Highlights include: Roseanne Cash: The List, John Lithgow: Stories by Heart, Kathy Mattea, The Vienna Boys Choir, Loudon Wainwright III & Shawn Colvin, Vicki Lawrence & Mama: A Two-Woman Show, Ani DiFranco, Betty Buckley: Broadway by Request, Ute Lemper, and Los Lonely Boys.
 
The 12 month season is divided into 9 series including: Broadway, Cabaret, Experiodyssey, Family Time, Great Night Out, Holiday Cheer, Just For Laughs, Pop and Rock, and Singer-Songwriter. Each series includes some of the most talented artists and live entertainers in their respective fields.

Betty Buckley weaves amusing stories and anecdotes with songs from her Broadway songbook in Broadway by Request. Rusted Root has sold more than 3 million albums worldwide since forming in Pittsburgh in the early '90s. The band's worldly style quickly charmed fans of roots music and world rock. Their 1994 album When I Woke went platinum and featured the hit songs "Send Me On My Way," "Ecstasy" and "Martyr." Throughout the '90s the band toured with many well known performers, perhaps most notably, supporting the Jimmy Page and Robert Plant reunion tour. The genesis of Rosanne Cash's new album The List dates back to a day in 1973 when Cash's father, the incomparable Johnny Cash, discovered some gaps in her knowledge of American roots music. He spent the rest of the day making a list on a legal pad, and at the top he put "100 Essential Country Songs" handed it to her and said, "This is your education." Three dozen years later, Roseanne has selected twelve songs from the list presented to her by her father to record her first album of covers. She approached each composition—from Jimmie Rodgers' "Miss the Mississippi and You" to Bob Dylan's "Girl from the North Country "—in search of its particular essence. The result is a glorious range of sounds and moods.
