Octopus

Fishy Friend

Octopus

Octopus
Dried out lying on the ground
Lifeless
Poked at it curiously
Turned it over
Suddenly
Ferociously grabbed my hand
Wrapped its tentacles
Squeezing
Terrible shooting pains
Venomous stinging sensation
Shook furiously
Trying to break loose
Tugging
With my other hand
It was so strong
Flinging it to the ground
Finding a rock
Pounding it to a pulp
Why are you trying to kill me
It screamed
You said you would be my friend
Please
I won’t do it again
Trust me
Just let me be
Reminded of a pledge
Vaguely remembered
Quandary
Not quite sure
Wanting
Such a clinging venomous
Companion
Sobbing and pleading
Now wretched
Walked away
Saddened to abandon
However strange
A loved one
