Local Restaurants & Food Producers Fete

Last November, QUEST, The Quabbin Educational Foundation for Students and Teachers gave out almost 7,000 dollars in small grants, raised in good part by the proceeds from Tastefully Quabbin, 2010. The grants were all made to schools in the Quabbin area.

Quabbin Regional High School received grants to advance their Literature & Film Collaboration Project, to acquire sculpture casts for the ceramics classes, to acquire parts for use by the Junior Engineering Technical Society in assistance of their participation in international robotic design competition, to purchase a Lino Printmaking Press, to support a sponsored visit to the UN, and arts performances in NYC and to purchase a license for a computer application program to manage treatment of impacts in sports injuries.

The Hardwick Elementary School received a grant in support of a field trip and ecology workshop at Beaver Tail Park

The Ruggles Lane Elementary School received a grant to aid a field trip to the Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, MA

The Quabbin Regional Middle School received funding to help students equip and operate The Bluebonnet Café, a program in which seventh and eighth grade students learn business management and social skills with faculty and staff as customers. In addition grants were provided for math computer applications programs and a schoolwide workshop on the issue of bullying with a visit from Doug Wilheim, author of The Revealers

Tastefully Quabbin returns for another round of fund raising on Mon, October 3 and will be held as before at The Cultural Center of the Eagle Hill School in Hardwick. Confirmed participants at this point include; Barre Mill Restaurant, Crumbs...Cookies and Cakes, Eagle Hill School, Gardner Ale House, Gheppetto's Grille, Hartman's Herb Farm, Picasso Restaurant and Bar, Robinson Farm, Rose 32 Bread, The Country Gourmet and Winterwood Inn with some later additions expected as well.

These restaurants and food preparers will be offering up their finest and donating their effort to Quest in hopes of luring you to patronize them throughout the rest of the year.
