Williamstown Theatre Festival Looks Forward to 2009 Season

With all that has happened in the economic world these past months, I find great solace in the vivid memories of the 2008 Williamstown Season. If I need a laugh, I think of Kate Burton in Beyond Therapy or the madcap antics of those raunchy French raconteurs in A Flea in Her Ear. When searching for beauty, my mind wanders to the majesty of Michael Greif 's Three Sisters or the quiet desperation of Richard Easton and Dana Ivey in Home. I know that true love can still exist thanks to Brooks Ashmanskas and Kate Baldwin finding theirs in rapturous song in She Loves Me. And the future is buoyed by the vital talents evidenced by Theresa Rebeck's The Understudy, Nathan Louis Jackson's Broke-ology, Ronan Noone's The Atheist and Ellen Melaver's Not Waving. With essential works like these premiering on Williamstown stages, the American theatre has so much to look forward to.

But none of what we do could be possible without the dedication and positive energy of you, our patrons. Your high standards as an intelligent audience push WTF to provide the very best the theatre can offer.

In the trying times in which we live, the Williamstown Theatre Festival will make no compromises. In 2009, we will continue to raise the bar with tremendously exciting projects I am sure you will enjoy. A season announcement will be arriving soon and I cannot wait to share it with you.

And now, as winter descends, I am warmed by the promise of the coming summer and the spectacular bounty of theatre it has in store. Once again, WTF will strive to transport you away from the labors of the everyday and provide you with theatrical experiences that will be with you for years to come.
