Day in the Life

Day in the Life

A silent night
When bells ring
Far and wide
In our land
Calling all faithful
Unique truce and peace
All quiet on every front
He rose as usual
Nothing out of the ordinary
An early hour
Just after dawn
Two pots of tea
From China stash
A rare luxury
Most exquisite
The delicate white one
For special occasions
Perhaps like this
Or maybe not
Morning meditation
Play on the deck
A hundred punches
Meaning no harm
Thrusting air kisses
A cold winter day
Only weather
As the abbot would say
Who now and then
Likes something stronger
Than brewed tea
When strangers visit
High on the mountain
Far from the Berkshires
Close to the clouds
As it has been
Since time began
On a day that is
Sacred to many yet
Like any other
Save a call to daughters
As family matters
Even to one who
Breathes deep and slow
Passage of time
In a measured manner
With no fear
