Ann Scott at Blue Heron Gallery Online

Plein Air Berkshire Painter

By: - Jul 12, 2021

Blue Heron Gallery Online, a virtual art gallery, will be presenting the art of northern Berkshires artist Ann Scott beginning at noon on Monday, July 12, 2021, and running through August 12, 2021.  The exhibition, appearing on www.blueherongallery.online, will feature 12 of her most recent paintings depicting a path of some kind found in the forests of the northern Berkshires as well as a brief bio and her Artist Statement.

A Canadian transplant to western Massachusetts with brief stops along the way that included the dune shacks of Provincetown on Cape Cod, her path has taken many twists and turns as so many other artists have in their journeys.  One stop on hers also included a Zen Buddhist temple in Rhode Island, where she deepened her appreciation of stillness.

The show will present a variety of her work, including scenes of paths, rivers, and streams, all found in the Berkshire mountains.  Each piece will be available for purchase directly from the show online, and pieces purchased will be framed and shipped to the buyers, or if purchased locally to the northern Berkshires may be picked up at her studio.

The gallery is the creation and work of Michael McGrath, a former web designer and developer who earned Webby Award recognition for work in 2005.

A recent transplant to North Adams by way of a small Daoist temple in central China, he saw an opportunity to serve the rich artist community in the northern Berkshires by offering an outlet for their work.  Sticks-and-bricks galleries were shut down by Covid-19 and quarantine, artists had no outlet for their work, and the need for a safe yet full venue arose.

The virtual gallery’s early shows were successful during their thirty days each and saw visitor traffic from 38 states in the US, and 29 countries from all over the world, averaging 90 people per day viewing their art.  Sales have been generated from the Gallery’s shows both within Massachusetts and to collectors in other states.

Gallery shows are presently booked through September of 2021, and news of future shows is regularly updated on the gallery website www.blueherongallery.online

McGrath also offers support services to artists through the gallery, including website design and development, and early in the year launched a new website that was developed for first show artist Galen Cheney - www.galencheney.com.  A new website for second show artist Peter McGrath was recently launched - www.petermcgrathstudio.com.  He currently has three other websites under development for artists and authors.
