An hour glass
Drip of fine sand
Measuring our lives
Sanguine youth
More top than bottom
Shit for brains
Raging hormones
Outrageous daredevils
More guts than glory
Death defying stunts
Hope and dreams
Then even-steven
Measured midpoint
Family and career
Hunkered down
Later not much left
Ever less sand
Flummoxed flip-flop
Reflective reversal
Topsy turvy
Cooking a perfect egg
Neither hard or soft
That’s no yoke
Tricks of memory
Not making sense
Too much history
Friggin’ millennials
So self absorbed
Just like we were
Buried by shifting dunes
Under canopy of stars
So far and mysterious
Never visited
Our too brief voyage
Spaced out oddity
So much to do
Vox clementis in deserto
